Cosmetic Dentistry: Teeth have become an obsession here in the states.
Chances are, if you live in America, you take pride in making your choppers straight and white. It has become a part of our culture. Notice the endless shelves of whitening toothpastes at the local drugstores. And don’t forget about all those ads on television for professional-grade whitening kits.
One way or another, you’re going to get that pearly white smile. Then there’s cosmetic dentistry for those who really have it rough. Were you given a raw deal with crooked eye teeth or broken K-9s? Hey, it’s not really a concern anymore. As long as you have the cash, you can get that fixed-up in no time. It’s all about veneers, porcelain caps, and Zoom whitening.
The next time you go abroad, check out the local’s teeth. I visited the Taiwan about 10 years ago and was witness to plenty of dull, not so bright, yellowish looking grins. Some were just atrocious. It was hard for me to believe that people from other countries just didn’t make a big deal out of their teeth. I mean, you only get one set after all. Why not go ahead and resort to cosmetic dentistry if there was a need to?
Well, after do a little chatting with my buddy who came from Taiwan, he filled me in on a little secret. They don’t really care. Yeah, you heard me right. Many other countries don’t put the emphasis on cosmetic dentistry, braces, and whitening processes like we do. Here in America, we’re apparently obsessed with having a stellar grin.
I know that I am obsessed with it. That is exactly the reason why I brush my teeth three times a day and floss at night. I want to avoid cavities and at the same time make certain that my teeth would be straight and white. Wouldn’t you?
Let’s face it; there’s nothing wrong with having a little cosmetic dentistry done. I’m sure I would do it if I had to one day. Since we have the technology, we might as well take full advantage of it.
The only thing I know is that when I meet someone; their smile usually makes an impact on me. Probably more than any other physical trait that they have, so to all dentists, orthodontists, oral surgeons, and teeth specialists out there, keep up the great work. We always want our pearly whites to keep on looking perfect as long as we are around.

Do you Need To Replace Chipped Teeth
Most of the time, parents are known for reminding or “scaring” their children that they only have one pair of eyes and one set of adult teeth. This is the reason why we are often reminded to eat carrots and brush our teeth every single day.
It’s true that all of us only have one set of teeth, but with the wonders of modern dentistry anything that goes awry can quickly and painlessly be fixed. Whether it’s a loosened molar due to gum disease, the loss of a few teeth because of a facial injury or chipped teeth, a skillful dentist can make that smile look even better than it originally did.
[Do you suffer with chipped teeth]
Teeth become damaged for different reasons. It may be because of a fall, after being hit in the face with a ball or even eating something hard. All of these things can cause chipped teeth. Not only does this become an aesthetic concern but it also can pose serious dental health problems if the teeth are fixed quickly and properly.
The best course of action after you realized you’ve indeed suffered a split or chipped tooth is to make an appointment with a dentist. If the chip is small it can wait until the next day, however if it extends towards the gum and a large piece of the tooth has been removed, it’s important to contact the dentist as soon as possible. Most cities have emergency dentists just for this reason.
The procedures for repairing one’s teeth would vary greatly depending on the amount of damage the tooth or a tooth has suffered. For simple chipped teeth, where only a small portion of the enamel was broken off, the dentist may just go for bonding. This is an easy procedure and the results are remarkable.
Some individuals are a bit fearful of the dentist and therefore don’t end up going until they are sporting a smile filled with chipped teeth. In this case the dentist is likely to suggest a more complex approach to fixing the problem. It may include the use of veneers. Although expensive this truly offers the most rewarding outcome as you’ll have the perfect smile.
Small children are prone to damaging their teeth during falls. It seems a regular occurrence for a little one to lose their footing when they are playing at the playground or running with friends. The same damage can happen during sports. Even with protective gear, chipped teeth do happen.
If you have a child that still hasn’t grown their adult teeth, it is essential to ask the dentist on what to do to treat the chipped teeth problem. If the problem is just small, grinding the tooth down can be recommended since this will even out the tooth and allow it to fall off on its own. If it is a more serious chipped teeth problem concerning the root of the tooth or the gum line, then a more serious action is called for.
